INCLUDES:

4 scheduled soccer (or volleyball) games, post-game receptions, breakfast and dinner daily, San Jose city tour, Tabacon admission fees, Cafe Britt coffee tour, folkloric dinner and dances, land transportation, guide services, comprehensive nature tours, accomodations in three and four-star hotels, 24-hour emergency backup in the US and in Costa Rica. The soccer games are sanctioned by the Fedefut (Costa Rica’s governing body of soccer). Post-game reception includes sodas, water, fruit juice in some cases, snacks and sandwiches.

DAY 1:

San Jose – Arrive in San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, where you’ll be met by your program guide. Transfer to your hotel for an arrival briefing and dinner.

DAY 2:

San Jose – Today we’ll travel around the city on a half-day sightseeing tour. We’ll visit several attractions including the National Museum and the National Theatre – an architectural jewel. This afternoon, we’ll play our first game against a San Jose team. We’ll also enjoy a post-game reception with the opposing team.

DAY 3:

Monteverde – After a hearty breakfast, we board the bus and head towards Monteverde. On our way there we stop at Cafe Britt’s coffee plantations and participate in an exciting tour to learn all about the planting, harvesting, roasting, and brewing of some of the world’s best coffee. We continue to Monteverde for dinner and overnight.

DAY 4:

Monteverde – This morning we will enjoy a guided walk through the Monteverde Cloud Forest. We’ll learn about the importance of cloudforests and discover why so many plant and animal species inhabit these areas. This afternoon we play our second game against a Monteverde team. After the game we’ll have a chance to exchange experiences during a small party.

DAY 5:

Arenal – Descend the highlands of Monteverde and head towards the Arenal Volcano region. We’ll make several stops on the way as we circle the Arenal Lake while enjoying the magnificent view. We’ll stay overnight in Arenal.

DAY 6:

Arenal – This morning we’ll play game three of our tour against a competitive local team. Later we’ll be able to relax and enjoy the wonderful thermal waters at Tabacon Resort from which we could see the lava flows and hear the rumbling of the Arenal Volcano.

DAY 7:

San Jose – Today we return to San Jose via the famous arts and crafts town of Sarchi where e may purchase some souvenirs to bring back home.

DAY 8:

San Jose – We’ll enjoy a free morning for some last minute shopping or sightseeing in San Jose. This afternoon we play our fourth and final game against a competitive local team. Tonight we’ll enjoy a typical meal accompanied by a group of young folkloric performers.

DAY 9:

Departure – We go to the airport for our flight back home taking along a collection of wonderful experiences.
