Transportation with refreshments on board, lunch, bilingual guide.

This one-day tour allows you to be in close contact with nature within a short distance from San Jose. We start by crossing the continental divide, via the magnificent Braulio Carrillo National Park where you will be exposed to a wonderful cloudforest among other unique habitats.

We arrive at Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui where we board a comfortable and safe motor boat to float down the river. The river is surrounded by a gallery rainforest and we’ll be on the lookout for sloths, monkeys, iguanas, caimans, crocodiles and numerous beautiful wetland birds.

We have lunch at a quaint family-owned hotel where we’ll also get a chance to swim in the pool or in the pristine river nearby. We’ll also visit a butterfly farm and an agricultural garden. For a small additional fee you may also want to visit one of the most comprehensive insect museums in the country.

After lunch we visit the Alma Atta Park, an archeological park with some recently discovered Pre-Columbian burial sites. Her we’ll learn some interesting facts about the early inhabitants of Costa Rica.
